Portility AI Privacy Policy

Portility AI is a Chrome browser extension that works with AI chatbots including Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. It provides the following features:

- Port My Chat — Extract a conversation from one AI platform and port it to another, copy it to your clipboard, save it locally as a text file, or generate an AI-powered summary of it.

Port My Profile — Create a portable personal profile (your preferences, communication style, and working context) through a guided questionnaire, then bring it to any AI platform so each AI gets to know you instantly.

Second Opinion — Send your conversation to an independent AI model for an alternative perspective, then view a side-by-side comparison with an agreement score and a detailed breakdown of where the two AI responses agree and differ.

# Content safety check

Before any conversation is processed, the extension transmits the conversation text to a third-party content moderation service (OpenAI Moderation API) to check for harmful or prohibited content. Thischeck applies to Port My Chat, Port My Profile, and Second Opinion. The moderation service does not store the content after processing.

# What data we collect

Port My Chat — Copy Conversation: Conversation content is transmitted to a third-party moderation service for a content safety check, then copied directly to your clipboard. Portility does not store the conversation content. No conversation content is retained by Portility or the moderation provider after the check is complete.

Port My Chat — Summarize: Conversation content is sent to the moderation service for a safety check, then transmitted to Portility's servers for AI-powered summary generation. The summary is returned to you and, if you've enabled Drive backup, may optionally be saved to your Google Drive (see below). Portility does not retain the original conversation content after processing.

Port My Chat — Save as .txt: When saving to a file, conversation content is transmitted to the moderation service for a safety check. If the check passes, the file is generated locally on your device.

Portility does not receive or store the content.

Port My Profile: Your personal profile and questionnaire answers are encrypted and stored in Google Firestore, linked to your authenticated account. This data is synced across devices and is only accessible with your account credentials. You may delete your profile at any time.

Second Opinion: Conversation content is sent to Portility's servers, where it is processed by two AI models — one for summarization and one for an independent second opinion — and then compared. The comparison results (agreement score, areas of agreement, areas of divergence, and interpretation) are cached locally in your browser for a short time and stored in your local Second Opinion history. The original conversation text is not retained by Portility's servers after processing.

Second Opinion Feedback: If you choose to rate a comparison using the in-app rating scale, your rating (1–5), the AI-generated agreement score, the comparison data, your platform, and your user ID are stored in Firestore for product improvement purposes.

# Authentication and account data

The extension uses Google Sign-In for user authentication. When you sign in, we collect:

- Your Google user ID (a unique numeric identifier)

- Authentication tokens (used to verify your identity and access your stored data)

Your email address is shared with Portility and may be used to send occasional product information. When you first sign in, you will be asked if you want to recieve marketing emails. Opting out does not affect your ability to use Portility. Your Google user ID is used to manage your account, enforce usage limits, and associate your stored data (profiles, feedback) with your account.

# Usage tracking

Feature usage counts (such as the number of ports and second opinions used) are tracked per authenticated user account to enforce tier usage limits. This data is linked to your Google user ID and stored in Firestore.

# Google Drive integration

If you enable Drive backup in Settings, your Port My Chat summaries may be saved to your Google Drive. This is available to signed-in users. Portility uses the drive.file OAuth scope, which only grants access to files that Portility itself creates — it cannot read, modify, or delete any other files in your Drive. You can revoke this access at any time through your Google Account permissions.

# Pricing and payments

Portility is currently free to use during our beta — every feature, including Second Opinion and Port My Profile, is unlocked at no cost for signed-in users. Paid subscription infrastructure exists in our systems for future paid tiers and is processed through Stripe when active. Portility stores your Google user ID and subscription tier status; payment details (credit card numbers, billing address) are handled entirely by Stripe and are never transmitted to or stored by Portility. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.

# Analytics

The extension collects anonymous usage analytics through PostHog, a third-party analytics service. This includes:

- Feature usage events (which buttons are clicked, success or failure of operations)

- Message counts and error occurrences

- General device information (browser type, screen resolution, language)

- An anonymous identifier stored locally in your browser to distinguish unique installations

This data contains no conversation content and no personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, or account details. Analytics data is used solely to evaluate product performance and improve the extension over time. It is not used for advertising or profiling purposes.

The extension does not use cookies or tracking pixels, however the portility.ai website does capture anonymous usage analytics through Google Analytics.

# Data storage and retention

- Port My Profile data is stored encrypted in Firestore until you delete it or delete your account.

- Second Opinion comparison results are cached locally in your browser for a short time. Feedback ratings are stored in Firestore permanently for product improvement.

- Conversation text sent to Portility's servers for processing (summarization, second opinion, comparison) is discarded immediately after the response is generated. It is not logged or retained.

- Anonymous analytics data is retained per PostHog's standard retention policy.

- Stripe retains payment and subscription data per Stripe's own privacy policy and data retention practices.

# How your data is used

- Conversation content is processed solely to deliver the features you request (porting, summarization, second opinion comparison) and is never stored by Portility after processing.

- Authentication data is used to manage your account, verify your identity, and enforce usage limits.

- Profile data (Port My Profile) is stored to provide cross-device sync and quick access when porting to a new AI platform.

- Feedback ratings are used to evaluate and improve the accuracy of Second Opinion comparisons.

- Anonymous analytics data is used solely to evaluate product performance and improve the extension. It is not used for advertising or profiling purposes.

# Third parties

The extension uses the following third-party services:

- OpenAI — Content moderation via the OpenAI Moderation API before processing. OpenAI may also serve as the AI model for Second Opinion generation. OpenAI's privacy policy applies. Content is not

retained by OpenAI after processing.

- Anthropic — AI processing. Conversation text may be sent to the Anthropic API for summarization and Second Opinion generation. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to API-processed content. Content is not retained after processing.

- Google Firebase / Firestore — User authentication, encrypted profile storage, Second Opinion feedback, and usage tracking. Data is stored in Google's cloud infrastructure. Google's privacy policy applies.

- Google Drive — Optional backup of Port My Chat summaries. Only files created by Portility are accessible via the drive.file scope.

- Cloudflare Workers — Portility's backend API runs on Cloudflare Workers. Conversation text is processed in-memory for summarization, second opinion generation, and comparison, and is not retained or logged.

- Stripe — Payment processing for future paid subscriptions. Portility does not store payment card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies.

- PostHog — Analytics. Anonymous usage events are sent to PostHog for product analytics. No conversation content or personally identifiable information is included.

No data is shared with any other third parties. No data is sold to third parties. No data is used for advertising, profiling, or creditworthiness determination.

# Children

This extension is not directed at children under 13, and the company does not knowingly collect information from children.

# Changes to this policy

Material changes to data handling practices will be reflected on this page with date updates.
